FAQs
How do I know which level of membership best fits my needs?
Every member is different. These are the main reasons we find members choose each level:
Core Membership:

This plan gives members full access to our members-only content, resources, and community benefits (for up to 5 individuals), plus special member pricing on training, events, pay as you go services, and surveys (1 survey is included with participation in the survey!). It’s a low-risk way to engage with The Council if you’re not sure what you’ll need. Organizations might choose the Core Membership if they know they don’t need the direct access to experts a Consulting or Enterprise Membership provides but do want member pricing on for-fee services, additional surveys, training and events. You can always upgrade any time during the year if you realize you’d like more access.

Consulting Membership:

If you are a current member, this level is very similar to our previous membership model, but now includes the new members-only portal and community platform—with unlimited access to community features for anyone in your organization. Depending on the size of your organization*, this membership includes up to 30 hours of legal advice from licensed attorneys and/or counsel and guidance from HR experts (for up to 10 people in your organization). This level fits the needs of organizations who find they want the flexibility of having experts on-call to help with occasional needs. It also includes special member pricing on services, surveys (3 surveys** are included), training, and events, so you only pay for what you need from those categories. Consulting members also receive Payfactors compensation data for up to 20 positions. You can always upgrade any time during the year if you realize you’d like unlimited access to our experts.

Hours breakdown:*

  • 10 hours for organizations with 1-100 people
  • 20 hours for organizations with 101-500 people
  • 30 hours for organizations with 501+ or more people
  • Members will receive special pricing for additional consultation hours over their included time.
*Benchmark Surveys included: Compensation, Benefits, and Personnel Pulse
Enterprise Membership:

This is our “all-inclusive” membership, perfect for organizations that want unlimited access to our HR experts and licensed attorneys. Enterprise members also receive all surveys; compensation data; special member pricing on for-fee services, training, and events; and other benefits—like development of a free custom employee handbook, a training assessment consultation, an organizational development plan, market pricing for jobs (for up to 20 positions), and a half-day onsite training.

Can I change my membership level if I decide I need more support later on?

You are always welcome to upgrade your membership. We are not able to downgrade your membership level until your plan is up for renewal.

How many consulting hours are included in the Consulting Membership?
The number of hours depends on the size of your organization:
  • 10 hours for organizations with 1-100 people.

Under the new model, what happens if I go over my allotted Advice and Consultation hours?

Under the Consulting Membership level, Advice and Consultation hours are tiered based on the number of people in your company. Once you reach your allotted hours, you have two choices: You can either upgrade to the Enterprise Level membership for unlimited Advice and Consultation, or you can pay by the hour for additional time.

The rate for Advice and Consultation services is $300/hr. (Note: Specialized Legal Services, Administrative Representation, and Outsourced HR Consulting Services may be purchased separately at variable rates. Advice and Consultation hours are not available at the Core Membership level.)

With this new model, will I still have the same rep?

No.

We have created a Member Care Team that will be your first point of contact for all your questions. Instead of only one assigned representative, you now have access to a full team with comprehensive expertise in multiple areas. You’ll get the help you need, faster, and you’ll no longer need to wait for an assigned rep to be available.

What if I want to call my previously assigned rep?

We believe you will receive the best service by engaging the Member Care Team first.

During our center’s open hours, you will be able to reach a live person who will be able to connect you with the best available resource for your specific need. We understand that you may have built long-term relationships with your previous rep, and it’s possible that your former assigned rep will be the best person to help you! Once the Member Care Team connects you with the right resource for your project or question, you can continue to work with that person directly until the situation is resolved.

What is this members-only portal I keep hearing about?

Members will have access to a regularly updated, easily accessible library of  HR and employment law resources—including articles, white papers, guides, tools, templates, and more—and the ability to connect and engage with other members and Employers Council experts through our community features.

What does the “market pricing for jobs” Enterprise Membership benefit include?

This service gives you access to market data to help your organization make external pay equity decisions. Market pricing helps determine the external value of a position. It is one of the most common methods organizations use to establish competitive pay rates for jobs. A strong understanding of market rates can help attract and retain employees. We will review your organization’s job description (duties, responsibilities, education, and experience) and then review our internal survey resources and additional market data resources for matches to your position. Enterprise members receive up to 20 base-pay market pricings for non-executive level positions during the membership year.

Additional market pricings are available for a fee.

I attended the harassment prevention workshop put on by Employers Council, and I wanted to share my praise for the presenter. I was skeptical about whether I would learn anything I didn't already know, but she presented the information in thought-provoking and nuanced ways. She answered questions well and had us do an activity that enlivened the presentation. As an academic, I particularly appreciated the way that she was able to address the issues intellectually and not simply give us an "information dump." Anyway, I was impressed with what I expected to be a boring presentation. - Professor, Regis University

Our handbook needed to be updated. We had done minor revisions over the years, but more policies than we needed crept into the handbook over time. I wanted to keep what was important and get rid of the rest. I sent my handbook to Employers Council and staff went through all of the policies to first let me know what could be eliminated, and what needed to change in order to bring it up to date. The best thing was that this is part of my full membership dues, so there was no charge for this. I send in my handbook every one or two years for a tune up, so it reflects current laws and stays streamlined.

Lynnette Siedschlaw, HR Director - Moffat County

As I faced some difficult employee problems over the years, I knew that I could reach out to Employers Council and get some good solid advice in how to handle a situation. In the 20 years if have been working in HR I don’t believe I was ever given bad advice. I may not have always agreed with what the counsel was, but I never put myself or the company in a compromising position by following your advice and recommendations.

Joe Maylin, Human Resources Manager - Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co.

Being able to reach out to someone on the Member Experience Team when something comes up and we're just not sure how to handle it is amazing. We have help just a phone call or an email away, and everyone that we have worked with has been so responsive, understanding, and helpful.
