Recently, one of our multi-state members engaged our Human Resource Professional Staffing consultants in an audit of their I-9s. As we began the audit, it became apparent that multiple critical violations existed on about 75 percent of the organizations I-9s. The fines associated with these errors (upwards of seven figures) had the potential to close the business. Working with the member, Employers Council’s HR and Immigrations teams helped correct the documents that could be corrected. The Human Resource Professional Staff trained all the hiring managers to prevent such errors from happening in the future. The member still keeps in touch to ensure compliance.
