I started working with a nonprofit that didn’t have an HR program. They were a group of the warmest, most committed individuals I’d had the privilege to work with for many years. Over the course of our relationship, I had the opportunity to help them put in place basic HR guidelines, examine their compensation structure, hire key personnel, provide manager training, assist in the strategic planning process and the development of their wild, audacious goals, and address a variety of employee-relations issues. Over the years, I’ve shared happy times with them and assisted them through some challenging situations, as well. I continue to provide consultative support on a variety of subjects, including performance management. They are thriving, with a very cohesive/collaborative work group and they remain one of my favorite members to this day!
