Our highly rated Introduction to Human Resource Management Program
is comprised of five half-day sessions that provide participants with a broad-based overview of critical HR functions, updates on the latest HR trends and legal developments, and best practice tips. It is designed for professionals new to HR or who perform HR duties as a secondary function. This program is a great compliment to the Advanced Human Resource Management Program, which will be offered in Spring of 2019 ans 2020.

HR Essentials - This introduction to HR provides a bird's-eye view of HR responsibilities and the role HR plays in an organization with a focus on effective hiring and onboarding practices and how to handle terminations. It also addresses key responsibilities such as recordkeeping, personnel files, employee handbooks, and posting requirements.
Employment Law I - Human resources professionals must have an understanding of many employment laws. This session provides an overview of key discrimination laws, illegal harassment, immigration laws, and employee rights in the workplace. Participants receive practical information and best practice tips to help their organization stay in compliance.
Employment Law II - This session continues our employment law discussion by covering the fundamentals and recent developments of wage and hour laws (FLSA), garnishments, drug and alcohol testing, Workers' Compensation, and tricky leave laws such as FMLA, ADA, and USERRA. Tools and best practice tips will be shared.
Performance Management and Employee Development - One of HR’s greatest contributions in every organization is providing feedback and setting goals to motivate and engage employees to perform at their best. This session gives you the tools to address performance problems, develop and administer performance evaluations, recognize star performers, and set goals to motivate and develop employees.
Payroll and Benefits Administration - HR plays a key role in ensuring employees are paid properly and supporting employee benefits. This session provides participants with a sound understanding of payroll best practices, key payroll rules, benefit plan administration, Total Rewards statements, COBRA administration, and an overview of the Affordable Care Act. Participants also receive best practice tips on how to support employee benefits and add value.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion upon completing all five (5) sessions.
